GRAFTON, Mass. - With Valentine's Day just around the corner, it's time to turn to thoughts of love -- and "Love is in the Air" Sunday at a concert presented by Apple Tree Arts.
“The concert features popular classics and fun songs from the past,” said Donna Blanchard, executive director of Apple Tree Arts and musical director of the Community Chorus. “This is a great opportunity for the 25 member chorus to perform alongside inspired professional musicians with the accompaniment of masterful pianist Tina Ho.”
The concert, featuring the acoustic and vocal stylings of the Grafton-based arts group, will be held Sunday at 4 p.m. at the Congregational Church of Grafton on Grafton Common.
Apple Tree Arts faculty members will play several different musical instruments. Myra MacLeod will play the Celtic Fiddle. Tim Gruntman will perform two acoustic guitar solos including “Romanza” and “If I Only Had a Brain” by H. Arlen and E.Y. Harburg. Linda Bento-Rei, renowned flutist will perform a classical number, brilliant Christine Tsen will play the cello and Ms. Ho will play a piano solo.
A variety of classical, jazz and popular music will be included. Monica Hatch, a well-known vocalist, will perform. Education Director Jan Barlow will sing a classic jazz ballad and Lisa Scarlett, theatre arts director will sing a Broadway number. Theatre arts faculty member Susan Upham will perform a song from the musical “South Pacific.”
Admission is $10 for adults and free for students and children under 18 years-old. Tickets will be sold at the door.
