GRAFTON, Mass. - Longtime Grafton Public Library supporter Carrie Hogan has entered the 2012 race for three available seats on the library's Board of Trustees.

Hogan, a political newcomer, took out nomination papers for the Grafton Public Library's Board of Trustees, which has three spots open in May's town election.

"If elected as a Library Trustee, I will work diligently on behalf of the Grafton community to identify and implement the best solutions to address the needs of the Grafton Public Library," said Hogan.

Hogan and her husband Dean bought a home in Grafton shortly after they were married in 2003. They have two young daughters, and Hogan says the family "shares a love of the Grafton Public Library."

Hogan's background is in the area of accounting, business process flows and information systems. "I plan to put on the green eyeshade and bring my red pen to work on finding cost-effective solutions," she said.
Incumbents Doug Bowman, Diane Libbey have also pulled papers to run for re-election. Only chairman Judith Meichelbeck has yet to pull papers.

Also joining the race for election is Michael Scully, current chairman of the Super Park Study Committee, who has pulled papers to run for one of two seat on the Planning Board. Incumbent Robert Hassinger and Robert Sims are also running for Planning Board. Three spots are open for the board.

Current Planning Board Chairman Bruce Spinney is opting to take a run for the Board of Selectmen, opposing incumbent Brook Padgett for the single seat up for election.

There are two spots open for election on the School Committee, currently held by Carlson and Halloran, both of whom are seeking their second term. They will be running against newcomer Maggie McDonald.

The deadline for nomination paper certification is Monday, March 19 at 5 p.m. Then, once certified, papers must be filed by Monday, April 2 at 5 p.m. Objections and withdrawals can be filed until Wednesday, April 4 at 5 p.m.

The town election will be held on Tuesday, May 15.
