GRAFTON, Mass. - With the opening of the new Grafton High School and subsequent reorganization, the number of schools in town increases from five to six, and the district's administration is now in the process of hiring a new principal for its North Street Elementary School (formerly Grafton Middle School).
The application process closed Wednesday, and the administration's screening committee will include teachers, support staff, parents, and administrators.
Superintendent James Cummings hopes to have a new principal in place by early March.
"The process will essentially be the same as the one we used this summer," said Cummings. "The differences will include day long site visits to the school/district of each finalist as well as day long visits to Grafton by each of the finalists."
Grafton Middle School Principal Kristen Gasper and Grafton Elementary School Principal Joann Stocklin were both hired during the summer of 2011, as Cummings first took over as superintendent of Grafton Schools.

I hope the candidate list includes experienced, talented, dedicated, professional educators who relish the challenge of the elementary age children they will be supervising. We need professional administrators who are are able to engage the community, the parents, and the staff in providing a sound educational program. We need professionals who will establish high standards using best practices, implement competent supervisory methods, and provide appropriate staff development opportunities for our teachers.
Let's provide the children with the best!
